Asheville, NC Metal band LIFECURSE has released the official music video for “BUZZARD BAIT,” off of their forthcoming album, The Wolf You Feed. Produced by Jamie KIng (Between the Buried and Me, For Today, The Contortionist, Scale the Summit), The Wolf You Feed is set to release mid-2018.
“‘Buzzard Bait’ is the first song we have released since 2013’s ‘Elysium.’ The song touches on themes and topics such as society’s inherent desire to watch people fail, to rubberneck through life and use other people’s failures and faults as a means to lift themselves higher, failing to realize that we are all one in the same. We are all born and we will all die, those are the only 2 things you are guaranteed in life. The rest is up to you to make make the world a better place, or completely destroy it. No one can make that choice.
Buzzard Bait is a song about the constant struggle between light and dark, and the incessant human need for validation from other humans.” – Lifecurse
Heavy music is like a shark–bloodthirsty, violent–but more importantly, driven by progression. The second bands stagnate and lose momentum, they sink to the murky depths of the listener’s mind, only to be rediscovered by whims of nostalgia years later. Fortunately for Asheville, North Carolina’s Lifecurse, stagnation is neither a word in their vocabulary or a concept they are familiar with. Originating in 2010, Lifecurse have practically defined the pinnacle of metalcore progression, expertly blending erratic, energetic heaviness with ethereality and riff-friendly technicality. What’s more? As times change and more and more bands are thinking out of the box, Lifecurse is far from afraid to delve into the darkest corners metal, hardcore and deathcore have to offer, never backing away from an opportunity to push the envelope further.
Since their formation in early 2010, Lifecurse have left no stone unturned. Independently releasing two full length studio albums and distributing thousands of copies to fans across the country, the band’s work ethic is admirable to say the least; providing full musical experiences where their peers are satisfied with brief EPs and single releases. Their devotion to their fans and fellow heavy music enthusiasts is also displayed by their incessant tour schedule. Planning and executing many of their own small excursions throughout 2012 and 2013 to support their sophomore release, Elysium, the band got their first big break as direct support for the legendary Norma Jean on their nationwide tour in 2014. Lifecurse’s impressive resume doesn’t end there–the band have acted as regional support for such genre-defining giants as The Ghost Inside, The Acacia Strain, All that Remains, and Battlecross, among several others. Since then, Lifecurse have receded from the public eye, planning tours and festivals, as well as writing and recording their third LP, The Wolf You Feed, an immense concept album spanning two discs. Adding a thick layer of icing to their already impressive cake of two full-length releases, The Wolf You Feed is sure to be the latest and greatest product from a band that has never slowed down in their constant push to deliver fresh and furious music to their fans.
Between touring the country, writing and recording immense, diverse and dynamic hit albums and playing countless local benefit shows for charities and charitable causes, Lifecurse are the “do or die” mentality come to life. The Wolf You Feed set for a Spring 2017 release, and tours to support it, it’s only a matter of time before this North Carolinian quintet devours your local scene.
