Weekly Recap: Exceptional!

Marcie and CarrieThis weekly recap is dedicated to the woman that allows Unsung Melody to exist. My wife Marcie (That’s her on the left with one of her favorites, Carrie Underwood). It’s her birthday today and without her understanding, love and support, this site would not be what it is today. So raise a glass, if you choose to do so, or have a nice dessert in honor of the coolest woman on the planet. Love ya Babez!

With Labor Day being this past week, we had a bit of a short week. That didn’t stop us from covering some really cool stuff though. We kicked off the week with some cool news from Tantric as they premeired their new single Mosquita that features Shooter Jennings. I’ll included the song below and the official release is here.

Tantric – Mosquita (Lyric Video):

Staying wit Tantric for a moment, I had the chance to have an in-depth conversation with frontman Hugo Ferreira. Such a cool dude and very open about the album. You can read or listen to that interview here.

Teresa Burke recently caught a Robert Randolph and the Family Band set in Chicago. Robert Randolph is one of the artists that I personally want to see live, but haven’t been able to do so yet. So I was honored to have him be a part of the site and I think Teresa did a great job of capturing the show. The photos are here and you can read the review here. You can also check out photos of the local opener Noah’s Arcade here, if ya like.

I made an exception to a rule this week that I will rarely do. I covered a band outside of the US, that isn’t currently touring here or doesn’t have plans to do so in the short immediate future. Why would I do so? Well take a listen below and I think you’ll understand why. Eldorado is from Madrid, Spain is currently touring the UK. Their sound is classic rock through and through. I reviewed their album Antigravity Sound Machine here.

Linkin Park announced their new Facebook game Recharge. It will feature a new song with Steve Aoki and will be all also feature a score from the band themselves. You can check out the release here and catch the video of gameplay below.

In the other big news of the week, Slayer announced their intentions of a North American tour this fall. You can catch all the dates and the official release here.

Hope you enjoyed this week and we can’t wait to show you what we have coming up this week. Until then, enjoy a video from back in the day from Kentucky based Sixth Floor (Now known as Sons Of The Revolution)!
